Ladyslipper play classic DC-style post-punk downtempo, dissonant but manageable guitars and faded-shouty (not loud n screamy) vox. There are some interesting progressive and melodic elements, good drumming, and an overall ease of listening to them, but while they have an old-school sound (good), they’re also not breaking new ground (bad).

My relief at listening to Ladyslipper isn’t about how good they are, but about how they avoid being bad. But, while a noble goal, there’s more to life than reminding people of Fugazi. Ladyslipper, you must find your own way. (And maybe change your name.)
